![]() ![]() ![]() I did a clean uninstall/re-install of MSI afterburner and Rivatuner and voila, the game works perfectly again. *Fixed: Turns out it was my custom MSI Afterburner overlay that was preventing the game from even launching. No error code, nothing, just an immediate crash after the validating subscriptions screen shows up.I was playing it fairly regularly not that long ago, when it was still titled Age of Empires II HD edition in my steam library, and it ran flawlessly on my system, so Im assuming that whatever patch was released to change the name of the game, also somehow made it unplayable on my system/account.Does anyone on this subreddit have any advice?Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't know when exactly the game title switched to "Age of Empires II (2013)" as I didn't notice it when it happened, but now the game won't launch.I get the initial desktop menu of "Play, Workshop, AOE website, Achievements" and when I select Play I get the "validating subscriptions" splash screen but it crashes immediately back to the desktop. I doubt this could only be a age of mythology or empires thing, as Ive read some of the posts on here of similar problems on other fullscreen games. I haven't played in a month or so, the last time I played it was still called Age of Empires II HD in my steam library, and the game desktop icon looked different. Later, I opened up Age of Mythology 2, and the exact same situation occurred.
